2012 RAF WADDINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW
30th June and 1st July
Celebrating The Year of Lincolnshire Aviation
100 years of the Central Flying School
and ISTAR capability of the Royal Air Force
Held over the first weekend of July each year more than 140,000 visitors enjoy the two day extravaganza of the RAF Waddington International Air Show. RAF Waddington, the Royal Air Force’s home of surveillance and reconnaissance, is situated 3 miles south of the historic cathedral city of Lincoln.
Since the inaugural show, held in 1995, the event has increased significantly in size and stature and is now one of the country’s largest and most popular air shows. The main purpose of the show is to increase public awareness and understanding of the RAF and its role today, and to stimulate recruiting.
All profits are donated to RAF and local charities – the event has raised over £2.7M to charitable causes since its inaugural year at RAF Waddington in 1995.
The spectacular 7-hour flying display features the fabulous Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the RAF Falcons freefall parachute team and many more military and civilian aircraft from the UK and around the world.
Latest additions include the Royal Saudi Air Force who will be represented at the Air Show with their national display team, the Saudi Hawks and the Italian Air Force with their fantastic display team Frecce Tricolori.
This year’s Air Show will have a truly international flavour with participation already confirmed from the Royal Australian Air Force, United States Air Force, Swiss Air Force, Belgian Air Force, Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, Italian Air Force, Jordanian Armed Forces, Royal Netherlands Air Force, Polish Air Force, Austrian Air Force, Algerian Air Force, The Royal Danish Air Force, Royal Norwegian Air Force and Qatar Emiri Air Force.
The Air Show includes an extensive range of ground displays and over 250 trade stalls, craft marquees, a traditional funfair, classic cars & vintage military vehicles and two exhibition hangars with hands-on exhibits from the Royal Air Force.
There is even a chance to enjoy the thrill of a helicopter pleasure flight and see a magnificent bird's eye view of the Air Show and the local area - whatever your age you will find something of interest at the Air Show!
