MINIMALISM
Pared back, sleek, no fuss - that's what the minimal thing is all about and for spring 2011 it's everywhere.
This trend has been the big shift of the last two years and the natural, pale colours and simple elegance of the clothes have been embraced by everyone whether in accessories, clothes or hair and make-up.
The labels championing minimalism are ACNE< Stella, Celine, Chloe, Philip Lim and Calvin Klein
ASOS Minimalism includes lots of white, black, nude tones, tailoring and shorts. Key pieces include their sleeveless jacket and white cocktail dress.
SEVENTIES
The decade that taste forgot is back. Who would have guessed we would welcome it like a long lost lover?
Flares, maxis, midis, floppy hats, platforms, smocks, floral prints and swinging '70s handbags are all high scoring fashion items for S/S '11.
D&G, Ferretti, Marc Jacobs, Sonia Rykiel, HOH and many more channeled the '70s and it's the biggest high street trend for spring, hands down.
ASOS Seventies - long dresses, Halston inspired dresses, shorts, flares, wide leg trousers, halter necks and floppy hats.
COLOUR
After a season of wearing nothing but nude and camel, we expected this neutral vibe to contunie...Then along comes Raf Simons at Jil Sander and his neon colour explosion.
In fact, Milan took the crown of most influential city on the fashion tour thanks to its designers making bright colour fashionable, do-able and uplifting. Cobalt, bright pink, searing yellow, purple, orange and grass-green are the colours of choice.
Everyone who likes fashion will be investing in a colourful piece for spring but what will it be? Probably a handbag or shoes but for the bold there's everything else too.
