Cannabis with an estimated street value of £1.5 million has been discovered after a fire at an industrial unit in North Lanarkshire.
The blaze was reported at about 1.15pm on Tuesday in Mossbell Road, Bellshill.
More than 2,400 cannabis plants were found at the scene.
Inquiries are ongoing after the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the flames.
Nobody was injured as a result of the fire.
Inspector Brian Lindie said: "This was a very substantial cannabis cultivation and inquiries are ongoing to establish who is responsible.
"Cannabis cultivations not only bring drugs into our communities but the setup required to produce it also presents a high risk of fire and a risk to public safety.
"Criminal activity such as this will not be taken lightly and we will continue to carry out inquiries to find those responsible for this site and anybody else linked to the growing and distribution of drugs."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
