Two men have been jailed for murdering a fellow guest at the hotel where they were staying.

Andrew Main, from Falkirk in Scotland, was visiting Swansea when he was attacked by the pair on 17 July last year.

The 33-year-old never regained consciousness and died of his injuries on 14 August.

Joseph Dix, 26, from Frome in Somerset, and Macauley Ruddock, 28, from Bath, had denied murder.

But they were found guilty by a jury earlier this week.

Both Dix and Ruddock were jailed for life on Friday, with a minimum term of 13 years and 176 days.

The court heard that Dix, Ruddock and Mr Main were all visiting Swansea for work and were staying at the same hotel in the city centre.

After meeting each other at a nearby bar, an argument broke out back at the hotel between Dix and Ruddock and Mr Main and his friend.

The row then "moved onto the street" before the defendants chased after Mr Main, "ultimately striking him unconscious before carrying out a sustained attack", police said.

In a tribute previously released by police, Mr Main's sister Nikki said he was "sadly taken from us far too soon".

She said he was "a witty man with a huge heart" and that he would "forever live in our hearts and memories".

"He was a fabulous brother, fun uncle, and supportive daddy to his two children," she added.

"There will never be anyone like Andrew. The hole that has been left in our hearts will never be filled."

Detective Inspector Claire Lamerton, from South Wales Police, said the case highlighted "how the effects of intoxicants can negatively affect behaviour and decision-making".
