Candace is back for You season 2 but how did she survive a brutal attack by Joe and being buried alive?
Netflix's You season 2 dropped on December 26 and Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back to his old conniving ways. Your favourite antihero just moved to the west coast, assumed a new alias, and found Love–literally. Joe may think he's on his way to crafting the perfect life away from Peach (Shay Mitchell), Beck (Elizabeth Lail), and Mooney's Bookshop, but a chance run-in with his ex Candace (Ambyr Childers) proves complicated.
At the end of season 1, Candace walks into Mooney's and confronts Joe about having "unfinished business". Though they sit down for a conversation, nothing is resolved and it remains unclear how Candace actually survived after Joe dumped her body. So, how did Candace survive after Joe tried to kill her and bury her alive?

What did Joe do to Candace? How did he try to kill her?
After Joe and Candace fight in the apartment, he abducts her and transports her to the woods. Joe says he just wants to speak to her but she takes off running and he follows and tackles her to the ground.
While trying to silence her screams, he accidentally slams her head against a tree trunk and knocks her unconscious, believing that she has died. To conceal the crime, Joe buries Candace but she manages to survive the attack
How did Candace live?
It's unclear how Candace survives. For such a prolific killer, though, it was pretty sloppy of Joe to assume that Candace had died simply because she hit her head.
Candace survives being buried alive and, when she wakes up, she goes straight to the police to report what has happened to her. Unfortunately, the police are unable to help Candace because she has "no proof" and a history of filing similar reports. Instead, the police officer handling her case advises her to stay missing and start over. Candace takes this advice.
"I want you to know I wanted to stay gone," Candace reveals later when she meets up with Joe. She explains that she had every intention of staying missing but it was seeing Beck's book that drew her back.
From that point, she's out for revenge. Candace follows Joe out west and purposely gets involved with Love's brother Forty Quinn in order to keep a watchful eye on Joe.
