"I think this is Bob Iger, but I'm drunk." Tom Holland's drunk call with Disney CEO Bob Iger led to Spider-Man's return to the MCU. When is the last time you had a drunk call this productive?
Where were you when you found out that Tom Holland's Spider-Man would no longer be part the MCU? This past summer Sony, Disney, and Marvel gave fans a huge fright after news broke of a co-financing disagreement that meant Spider-Man would be excluded from future Marvel films. Luckily, a co-financing deal was reached a few weeks later and now we know that Tom Holland's drunk phone call to Disney CEO Bob Iger actually got Spider-Man back in the MCU.
In what was almost certainly the most productive drunken phone call of all time, Tom Holland reportedly "smoothed" things over with Iger after Sony and Marvel's big falling out.

The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week and recounted the hilarious story of how he "saved Spider-Man".
"We were at D23, which is the big Disney convention and the news had come out," Tom explained. "I was obviously devastated. I was really upset. And all my Marvel friends were there and they were taking Marvel pictures and I was not allowed to be in them. It was awful.

"But anyway, I asked if I could get Bob's email because I just wanted to say, 'Thank you.' I just wanted to say: 'This has been an amazing five years of my life. Thank you for changing my life in the best way and I hope that we can work together in the future.'" According to Tom, Bob Iger quickly responded to his email and asked if they could "jump on a call".
A couple of days passed and while Tom is at a pub quiz with his family, he gets The Big Call from Bob. Tom is "three pints in" and hasn't eaten much. So, in other words, he's kind of loaded.
Upon seeing an unknown number pop up, Tom is like: "I think this is Bob Iger, but I'm drunk."
Long story short, Tom "wept" on the call, explaining that he was feeling pretty emotional that it was all coming to an end. On the call, the Disney boss explained that there was a world in which things could still work out for Spider-Man in the MCU, which set off a larger conversation between the studio heads.
The rest, as they say, is history because as we all know Spider-Man is BACK, baby. Thank goodness too because Tony Stark's legacy looked like it was in serious danger for a hot minute there.
No one was happier than Tom when the news of an agreement broke. The actor posted a spirited scene from The Wolf of Wall Street where Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) tells his supporters: "I'M NOT F**KING LEAVING!"
Not F**cking leaving, indeed.
