The Umbrella Academy season 3 received rave reviews but what's next for the show? The Umbrella Academy season 4 is officially on its way – and it'll be the final season.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 sees the Hargreeves siblings return to 2019, but all is not as it seems. Upon their return, they learn that a different set of siblings with superpowers live there, and they're called the Sparrow Academy.

Umbrella Academy season 3 ends with another huge game-changing plot twist, but this time, there's one small detail that might make it much harder for the Brellies to get back to where they belong.

The Umbrella Academy season 4 has now been confirmed, alongside some key information so fans know what to expect. Here's everything we know about The Umbrella Academy season 4, including the release date, cast, trailers, spoilers and news about what's to come.

When does The Umbrella Academy season 4 come out?

Has The Umbrella Academy been renewed for season 4?

Yes! Although, fans may be sad to hear that The Umbrella Academy season 4 will be the final season of the show.

In a statement, showrunner Steve Blackman said: "I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago. But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes."

Steve later confirmed on Twitter the rumours that season will only be six episodes long by tweeted: "Six amazing episodes!" He also responded to a disappointed fan by saying: "It’s true. But you’re going to love them."

When is The Umbrella Academy season 4 release date?

The Umbrella Academy season 4 will be released in 2024. The exact date has not yet been revealed.

Filming officially began in February 2023 and wrapped in June 2023, just before the actors strike began.

While it usually takes quite a while for post-production to be completed on The Umbrella Academy, the shorted season may hopefully mean there's a shorter wait for the final episodes. With only 6 episodes compared to the usual 10, fans could hope to see season 4 in early 2024, as opposed to mid 2024.

Who will be in The Umbrella Academy season 4 cast?

After some very close brushes with death (and some actual deaths) in The Umbrella Academy season 3, the Hargreeves siblings are all alive when the credits roll on the final episode. Although, they are now in a completely brand new universe thanks to Sir Reginald Hargreeves,

In other words, we expect to see Elliot Page (Viktor), Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus) and Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) come back for more.

Ritu Arya (Lila) will be back, as well as Justin H. Min (Ben) and Colm Feore (Sir Reginald).

As for The Sparrow Academy? It's unclear if Justin Cornwell (Marcus), Britne Oldford (Fei), Jake Epstein (Alphonso), Genesis Rodriguez (Sloane) and Cazzie David (Jayme) will be in season 4 at the moment. But fans have already theorised that their characters could all return.

Due to their deaths in season 3, it's also unclear if Javon Walton (Stanley) and Callum Keith Rennie (Lester/Harlan) will return in season 4.

While Kate Walsh (The Handler) only appeared as a voice recording in season 3, the reset could see her back for more timeline antics in season 4.

The Umbrella Academy season 4 new characters: Who is joining the cast?

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullaly will also join the cast for the final season. They'll be playing Jean and Gene, "a married pair of community college professors from New Mexico who wear sensible footwear and suffer from the most extreme case of deja vu this timeline has ever seen."

David Cross will also play Sy Grossman, described as "an upstanding, shy business owner and family man desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter, who will stop at nothing to get her back."

And, as always, expect a whole new host of characters on top of those two. We're in a new universe now... anything could happen.

What will happen in The Umbrella Academy season 4?

There is no word on The Umbrella Academy season 4 plot just yet but the season ends with the Hargreeves siblings in a new universe with no powers.

Teasing what's ahead for the siblings in an interview with Decider, showrunner Steve Blackman said that he's already got the storyline for season 4 in place: "I do know what Season 4 is and we leave them in a pretty precarious place with the question that I hope the audience is asking themselves is: are they better off without their powers? Are they better off with them? Did Hargreeves give them the gift and say, look, you’ve hated the powers, it’s been the bane of your existence. Now you are free, you are, quote unquote, normal. Can they live like that and be normal?

"I have a way that they’ll get their powers back. But also, Hargreeves got something very special back himself—he got his wife. But that is also a very complicated story, given that they’re aliens, which we will also hopefully touch on next year. The world, if you look carefully, is slightly different as well, this timeline, a lot of Hargreeves Enterprises things around. So, there’s a lot of places to go in Season 4, and I’ve got a really good plan for it if we get another year.”

Blackman also teased that the mid-credit scene with Ben – who is now confirmed to be Sparrow Ben from season 3 – will also play a very important part in season 4.

Is there a The Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer?

Netflix haven't released any The Umbrella Academy season 4 teasers or trailers at the moment but we shall update you as soon as they do.
