Does Allison die in The Umbrella Academy on Netflix? Has Number 3 lost her powers?

The Umbrella Academy really is THAT show. It may have only come out on Netflix last Friday (Feb 15) but, in that time, the hit superhero series has already amassed a huge fandom all around the world. Created by Gerard Way, The Umbrella Academy tells the story of seven, adopted siblings who are born with powers. It then follows them, as they join forces, in an attempt to stop the apocalypse.

However, like any series, The Umbrella Academy has its fair share of storylines that fans are divided over. A lot of viewers are not responding well to the Allison and Luther storyline and then there are those who cannot get over Leonard Peabody's real identity. That being said no moment is quite as shocking as what happens to Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) at the end of episode 8.

SPOILERS BELOW - Does Allison die in 'The Umbrella Academy'?

In 'I Heard a Rumor', we find out more about Allison's backstory. She has the ability to manipulate reality by telling people "I heard a rumour" and then saying what she wants them to do. The whole reason Allison is separated from her daughter is because she used her power on her: to get her to sleep, behave, etc. Her husband didn't condone it and they split.

In episode 8, Allison searches for Vanya in an bid to warn her who her boyfriend Leonard is (Harold Jenkins). However, when Allison finds Vanya, things go haywire. Vanya has discovered she has powers (she can channel the elements with her emotions) and, when she tells Allison, Allison realises that their dad forced her to use her rumour power on Vanya when they were young.

Yes, knowing that Vanya's powers would be incredibly difficult to control, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made Allison say "I heard a rumour you think that you're just ordinary" to Vanya as a child and, as a result, Vanya never thought she had any powers. When Allison tells her in episode 8, Vanya snaps and accidentally slits Allison's throat with her violin bow. Crazy right?!!!

Here are just a few of the reactions.

It genuinely looks like she is dead but then in episode 9 we find out that the rest of the Hargreeves siblings manage to save her. However, because her throat is injured, she can no longer speak and thus is unable to use her power. Although, seeing as season 1 ends with the siblings going back in time to save Earth, Allison may get her voice back in season 2.

As it stands none of the cast has confirmed what happens.
