21 Studio Ghibli films are coming to Netflix in 2020
Park Ghibli is now under construction and it will feature rides inspired by iconic films such as Howi's Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away.
It's official. In spite of the coronavirus pandemic delaying building works, the Studio Ghibli theme park will still open in 2022.
Studio Ghibli have produced some of the most iconic animated films of the past 40 years. The Japanese animation studio is up there with Disney in terms of creating timeless classics. Movies including the likes of Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, Howi's Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away remain just as popular today as they were when they came out.

With that in mind, it's no wonder that there's huge demand for a Studio Ghibli theme park and the designs look incredible.
In 2017, Japan Times reported that a Studio Ghibli theme park would be built in Nagoya, Japan. Since then, construction on Park Ghibli has begun and they even announced that the park would open in 2022. However, recently, fans worried that the effects of coronavirus would push back the opening date. We can now confirm though that the park will still open in 2022.
Speaking to Sora News 24 this month (Jul 15), Hideaki Ōmura, the governor of Aichi, announced: "We are still on track and are planning to open the park in Fall 2022." In other words, it looks like Studio Ghibli fans don't need to wait any longer to see their favourite films come to life.
The park is set to have five unique zones inspired by the films and the themes within them. Construction on three of them, Hill of Youth, Ghibli's Giant Warehouse and Dondoko Forset is already underway.
Studio Ghibli have also released the first concept images for the park and they look as stunning as the films themselves.
Bring on 2022!
