Netflix reveals the Instagram growth stats of its biggest stars including Noah Centineo, Lana Condor, and Millie Bobby Brown.
It's clear that Netflix's biggest original titles tend to be major career boosters for its stars. The young up-and-comers attached to the platform's original dramas and films usually experience huge bumps in exposure and internet following.
This week, Netflix shared Instagram stats about the stars of Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why, Money Heist , The Kissing Booth, and To All The Boys I've Loved Before.
Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Centineo were the biggest gainers highlighted.
Millie went from 0 Instagram followers in July 2016 to 17.4 million in October 2018. Her role as Eleven on Stranger Things gained her millions of followers, along with her co-stars, who were also highlighted in the graphic.
Similarly, To All The Boys star Noah Centineo went from 800k in August 2018 to 13.4 million just 2 months later. Noah's TATBILB co-star Lana Condor also got a huge bump, going from 100k in August 2018 to 5.5 million in October 2018.
Katherine Langford has also been a huge gainer, amassing 12.4 million followers after playing Hannah Baker on 13 Reasons Why.
So, why have Netflix released the social stats for its biggest stars?
Well, if you know anything about Netflix, you'll know they're not ones to share viewing figures for their programming. These Instagram following numbers do, however, tell us how much of a career launching platform Netflix can be for its young stars.
Noah Centineo going from fewer than a million followers (after being on The Fosters) to 13.4 million followers in less than two months says a lot about what the platform can offer both its stars and advertisers.
Lana Condor spoke to THR about the surreal experience of gaining millions of followers over night. “I remember being so stoked when I reached 100,000 followers, and honestly thought that was the highest I’d go! So seeing this increase is truly wild."
It's "truly wild" but well deserved. Netflix also recently revealed that To All The Boys I've Loved Before was one of its most watched original films. It's definitely a good time to be a young star on Netflix.
