The wait is over. After months of waiting, we've finally been blessed with the first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer and it is safe to say that it doesn't disappoint. Tom Holland returns as our beloved hero Peter Parker (so he must be brought back to life in Avengers right?), Happy and Aunt May are highkey flirting (an iconic ship) and Tony Stark is mysteriously missing (he better not be dead, you cowards!).

However, there is one thing that is capturing everyone's attention and that is Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal. The 38-year-old star is taking on the infamous role of Mysterio in the highly anticipated new film and, from the few glimpses that we get of him in the trailer, it looks like he is going to be iconic. Not only that but fans are thirsting after him and the tweets are hilarious.

Who is Mysterio in 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'?

It's unclear exactly how Mysterio will be portrayed in Spider-Man: Far From Home but, historically, the character has been a key villain in the Spider-Man comics. Born Quentin Beck, Mysterio was an aspiring actor, who chose to turn to villainy after he failed to achieve his dreams. He is known for being a magician, illusionist and hypnotist with his own fish bowl helmet and cape.

Interestingly, Mysterio doesn't come across badly in the new trailer. We see him fighting off a dangerous foe and looking out for Peter, warning him: "You don't want to be part of this." Tom Holland actually revealed at Brazil's Comic Con experience that the film will follow Spider-Man and Mysterio as they team up to take on the Elementals, so could Mysterio be good?

Marvel usually stay pretty loyal to their source material so it seems unlikely. Still, Jake is as attractive and charming as ever, so who knows?
