We've rounded up all the details on the biggest and most mysterious horror movie of 2018.
From horrifying meme to blockbuster movie, the evil Slender Man is coming to a big screen near you in a new adaptation from Sony pictures.
But what exactly can we expect from this horror flick? Don't worry we've got all your questions answered right here!
Originally scheduled to arrive in May, the movie will now be released in the UK and the US on August 24th 2018. The change in date should allow the film to find more of an audience as there are less big blockbusters around, the original May release date pitting Slender Man up against Deadpool 2 at the box office.
Joey King of Fargo and Independence Day: Resurgence fame will lead the cast as Wren while Javier Botet, who recently played a Hobo in 2017's horror smash IT, will take on the role of Slender Man. Other cast members include Annalise Basso, Julia Goldani Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Kevin Chapman, Michael Reilly Burke and Taylor Richardson.
Not much is yet known about the mysterious storyline, with the studio releasing a vague synopsis:
"Terror strikes when four teenage girls in a small town perform a ritual to debunk the lore of a tall, thin, horrifying figure known as the Slender Man. They soon fear that the legend is true when one of them suddenly goes missing."
It has been rumoured that the film may touch upon the 2014 'Slender Man stabbing' in Wisconsin that saw two 12 year old girls, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, stab their friend 19 times in order to please Slender Man. Bill Weier, father of Anissa, has since condemned the release of the film although it is still unknown whether or not the storyline will feature elements of the case. As a result, two movie theaters in the Wisconsin area have already banned screenings of the film.
Sylvian White, previously known for Stomp The Yard and The Losers, will direct the movie.
David Birke (Elle, 13 Sins) and Victor Surge, the original creator of the Slender Man character.
