Netflix is having a moment. The platform has always been known for its amazing TV series but as of late it has been creating an array of incredible films. Beasts of No Nation? Stunning. Mudbound? Brilliant. Set It Up? Hilarious. Not only that but they have also been perfecting the art of the high school flick. This summer alone we have been treated to epic romance in The Kissing Booth and moving coming out stories in Alex Strangelove. And this is just the beginning.
Just this week Netflix has announced that they will be putting out a brand new film called Sierra Burgess Is A Loser and it looks set to be a teen drama of the highest quality. Not only that but it stars TV queen Shannon Purser from Stranger Things (Barb) and Riverdale (Ethel) as the lead Sierra. We are hyperventilating with excitement.

Netflix revealed this June that Sierra Burgess Is A Loser will come out September 7th this year. Yes. That means that it is less than three months until we can watch it. We cannot wait.
What is Sierra Burgess Is A Loser about?

Not too much is known about the film yet but we currently know that it is a modern adaptation of Edmond Rostand's famous 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac. Sierra (Shannon) is an intelligent high school student who is unfairly labeled a loser. However, things change when she is caught up in a case of mistaken identity with Veronica, the most popular girl in school. A coming of age drama with plenty of romance and laughs to keep viewers entertained.
The trailer was released on July 11th and it looks like it has all the ingredients of a classic.
Who stars in Sierra Burgess Is A Loser?
Sierra Burgess Is A Loser features an array of big names and promising new talent. As well as Shannon Purser as Sierra, the film will star the likes of RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Noah Centineo (The Fosters) and Will Peltz (Unfriended). Up and coming actress Kristine Forseth will play Veronica and legends Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) and Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) will take on the roles of Sierra's parents.

The film is scored by Bram Inscore (Hayley Kiyoko, Chloe x Halle) and Leland (Selena Gomez, Sabrina Carpenter). Amazing. It will also feature a soundtrack with songs by the likes of Troye Sivan, who both Bram and Leland have written with, and Allie X. With all of those names involved, we have no doubt that it will be sensational.
