In her YouTube series entitled 'Almost Ready', Shay Mitchell recalled her miscarriage last year and opened up about her current pregnancy journey.
Pretty Little Liars and You star Shay Mitchell announced she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Matte Babel at the end of June. In a YouTube video called "guess who's preggers", Shay dropped the major news, calling pregnancy "awesome" but "really fuckin' lonely".
Now, the actress and mum-to-be has opened up about her heartbreaking miscarriage, which happened last year.
Shay is documenting her pregnancy journey for an original YouTube series called Almost Ready and, in episode 1 titled "Keeping A Secret", she talks a little bit about losing her baby at 14 weeks. Shay became emotional as she recalled feeling "blindsided" by the tragedy.
"The first time that I was pregnant last year, Matte and I hadn't been planning," Shay explained. "It happened and we were really excited about it. I was like 14 weeks. At that point I had no idea the percentage of miscarriages.
"When it happened I was just completely blindsided by it. I still have those photos on my phone and I still have all the doctor's visits.
"Of course I'm super happy but I still feel for that one that I lost."

In the video, Shay also talked about "not feeling herself" and finding it difficult to keep her pregnancy a secret for as long as she did.
Shay first opened about the miscarriage back in January of this year while revealing some of the "hardships" she faced in 2018.
At the time, Shay wrote: "The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams."
For now, Shay is sharing her pregnancy journey with fans on YouTube on social media. To be honest, it looks like she's having a blast and even clapping back at pregnancy shamers in the best way.
