In December 2018, it was confirmed that a sequel to the film was on the way. Production started in Vancouver in March 2019. So far, there have been a number of new additions to the cast, including Jordan Fisher as the new John Ambrose McClaren and 13 Reasons Why's Ross Butler as Peter Kavinsky's best friend Trevor Pike. But what else do we know about the film? Who else will be in the cast? When will it be released on Netflix? What will it be called?
From plot spoilers, release date and casting details, here's everything you need to know about the To All the Boys sequel...
When is the To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel being released?
As of right now, there is no official release date for the To All the Boys sequel. The cast and crew all headed back to Vancouver where filming began in March 2019. The first film took one month to film so it's likely that the sequel will operate on roughly the same schedule.
Expect an update on the release date later in the year. The film could drop at some point in the second half of 2019.
What is the title of the To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel?
According to pictures taken on set of the cast's chairs, the film will be called To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.
In case you didn't know, To All the Boys I've Loved Before is based on a trilogy of books by young adult fiction queen Jenny Han. The second book in the series is called P.S. I Still Love You.
Who will be in the cast of the To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel?
Lana Condor and Noah Centineo will, of course, be back as Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky. Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart and John Corbett are also returning as the rest of the Covey family.
It was also recently announced that 13 Reason Why star and original Reggie Mantle on Riverdale, Ross Butler, would be joining the cast as Peter's best friend Trevor Pike.
The biggest cast change will be the role of John Ambrose McClaren, who appeared briefly at the end of the first movie. Previously played by Jordan Burtchett, the role will now be played by Jordan Fisher. The character of John Ambrose will take centre stage in the sequel.
Also returning to the cast are Madeleine Arthur as Christine, Trezzo Mahoro as Lucas and Emilija Baranac as Gen.
Holland Taylor (Legally Blonde) will be playing Stormy, John Ambrose's iconic grandmother. And Sarayu Blue (Blockers) will play Trina Rothschild, Daniel Covey's neighbour and eventual second wife.
What will happen in the plot of the To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel?
Seeing as the original film stayed true to the books we imagine that the sequel will do so too. To All the Boys actually finished part way into the second book, so the sequel will likely start there and tell the rest of Lara Jean's tale. If so, she and Peter will go through some relationship struggles hindered by John Ambrose, university and Peter's mum.
