At the end of season 3, there were several storylines left up in the air.
Starting with Bryce Walker’s death, we know that Zach was the one who beat him up, and then Alex pushed him, causing him to fall into the river and drown. However, his death was pinned on Monty, who was allegedly killed in jail in the final episode of the season.

Several people know about the lie, with evidence that proved Alex was involved being destroyed by his father, Deputy Standall. One of those people is Winston Williams, the guy that Monty slept with on the night of Bryce’s death. He is effectively Monty’s alibi, and knows for a fact that he didn’t do it. The trailer hints that Winston could play a huge part in the season, with his truth looming over the rest of the characters.
In the trailer, we see the police examining a stash of guns that was pulled from the river in the final episode. Those guns are Tyler’s, which were disposed of by Tony in season 3 (not very well, clearly…). Both Tony and Clay were involved in helping Tyler work through his pain but if their DNA is found, they could face serious consequences too.
We'll get all the answers when 13 Reasons Why drops on June 5th.
