The controversial Netflix teen drama will end with season 4.
It's official - 13 Reasons Why will be returning for a fourth and FINAL season on Netflix.
Announced by Netflix today (Aug 1), 13 Reasons Why season 3 will drop on the streaming service on Friday August 23. The main storyline of the season will focus on the death of Bryce Walker, whose funeral is shown in the new teaser trailer for season 3.

Season 4 is reportedly already in production and will feature the core cast’s graduation from Liberty High. Of course, with season 3 yet to be released we don't know what will happen to the characters in the fourth season. The fall out from Bryce's death will no doubt have an impact, with several characters probably having to face some dramatic consequences.
The season 4 renewal comes a few weeks after Netflix finally agreed to edit out the graphic scene detailing Hannah Baker's suicide in season 1.
Despite being easily accessible to anyone with internet access for the past 2 years, the horrifying sequence in which Hannah slits her own wrists and dies is no longer depicted in the episode.
If you watch season 1, episode 13 now, you simply see Clay tell Mr. Porter: "she went into the bathroom and died alone." The scene then cuts to Hannah's parents finding her in the bath, dead.
People have been calling for the show to end since season two, calling out the troubling content material and the triggering scenes of suicide and rape that feature within the show.
There's no word on when season 4 will drop on Netflix yet, but considering it is already in production, it's likely that we'll see it at some point in 2020.
