From the 2020 release date to cast, spoilers and trailers, here's everything we know about 13 Reason Why season 4 so far.
The controversial Netflix series 13 Reasons Why returns for a third season on August 23rd but despite calls for it to be cancelled, the show has been renewed for a fourth and final season on the streaming service.
Lead by Dylan Minnette following Katherine Langford's departure after season 2, season 4 will likely deal with the aftermath and fall out of Bryce Walker's death. Of course, we won't know much more about the fourth season until season 3 lands on our screens but there's a few details we already know so far...

Season 4 is already filming, according to Dylan Minnette. It was announced previously that the fourth season was already in production and now it appears as though they will be shooting seasons 3 and 4 back to back.

Just before the release date of 13 Reasons Why season 3, it was confirmed that Netflix had renewed the show for a fourth and final season.
There is currently no release date for 13 Reasons Why season 4.
Despite season 3 only just being released, it was also announced that season 4 was already in production. This means it shouldn't be too long until the fourth season is released on the streaming service.
Filming for season 3 took place in August 2018 and ran through until February 2019. It was held up a few months because of the California wildfires. If season 4 follows a similar filming pattern, season 4 will likely be released at some point in the second half of 2020.
There's been no official announcement about the amount of episodes that'll feature in the final season but, given that season 1, 2 and 3 all had 13, it's a safe bet to assume season 4 will also have 13 episodes.
According to EW, season 4 will "feature the core cast’s graduation from Liberty High." Following the ending of season 3, it's safe to assume that most of our main characters will return for season 4:
- Dylan Minnette as Clay
- Alisha Boe as Jessica
- Miles Heizer as Alex
- Brandon Flynn as Justin
- Devin Druid as Tyler
- Ross Butler as Zach
- Anne Winters as Chloe
- Christian Navarro as Tony
Despite Bryce being dead, Justin Prentice could very well appear in flashback scenes. It's also likely that Timothy Granaderos, who plays Monty, could appear in flashbacks too given that his death could still have an impact on the fourth season. Amy Hargreaves will also likely return as Clay's mum Lainie too.
It's unlikely that Brenda Strong or Kate Walsh will return as Bryce's mum Nora and Hannah's mum Olivia but you never know...
Again, we won't know much about season 4 until it drops but we do know one thing: the high school characters will graduate. And you can probably bet that there will also be another mystery that the characters will have to solve.
There will also no doubt be several storylines that deal with the fall out of Bryce's death, Monty's death and the truth about who killed Bryce. Some characters could find themselves in jail, others could still be harbouring some secrets that start weighing heavy on their mind (you know, the usual 13 Reasons Why drama...)
At the end of season 4, Bryce's death was pinned on Monty (who is now dead). Several people know about the lie, with evidence that proved Alex was involved being destroyed by his father, Deputy Standall.
There's also the small issue of Winston Williams, the guy that Monty slept with on the night that Bryce was killed. He knows that Monty didn't do it, but whether or not he decides to attempt to clear his name and expose the lie remains to be seen. Zach, Jessica and Ani could also be implicated if the truth is revealed.
Tyler's stash of guns was also found by fishermen. If Tyler's fingerprints (or even Clay and Tony's DNA) are still all over the guns and the bag, then they could face serious consequences.
Basically, everyone looks like they're in trouble. But then again, when are they not?!
