Riverdale season 4 episode 9: Alice attacks Betty with a knife in midseason finale trailer

Excuse me but why is Alice about to attack Betty with a knife? What is happening!? THIS BETTER BE A DREAM!
The midseason finale of Riverdale season 4 is here already and it looks like things are about to take another dramatic turn (if that's even possible at this stage of the already overdramatic game.)
The next episode of Riverdale is titled 'Tangerine' and will air on Wednesday, December 12th (usual time, you know the drill.) It'll be the midseason finale which means we're bound to be left on a huge cliffhanger until the show returns in January.

Season 3's midseason finale saw the introduction of Jughead's mum Gladys and sister Jellybean. Now, a new Jones family member will be making his way into Jug's life: his grandfather, Forsythe Pendleton Jones I. Jug's grandad has been playing a key role in the Baxter Brothers mystery this season and will no doubt have *something* to do with Jughead's "death."
But there's something more pressing happening next week that we need to discuss and it involves Alice coming towards Betty with a...knife. Yes, really.
What happens in Riverdale season 4 episode 9, the mid-season finale?
The synopsis for 'Tangerine' reads: "THE SEARCH FOR FORSYTHE PENDLETON JONES I — After declaring war on Hiram, Veronica enlists a secret weapon against her father – her Abuelita (guest star Ana Mercedes). Archie and FP team up to take Dodger down for good, while Betty and Charles investigate a series of strange attacks aimed at Betty.
Elsewhere, Jughead’s search for his grandpa, Forsythe Pendleton Jones I, leads to more questions than answers, while Cheryl finally makes peace with the past that’s been haunting her."
The teaser for 'Tangerine' doesn't actually reveal that much about the episode. Unlike seasons past, the promo trailers for Riverdale's season 4 episodes have been short, with no extended promos released at all.
Instead of teasing Jughead's grandfather and the climax of Cheryl's emotional storyline, we see Alice getting a knife out of the kitchen drawer and walking towards Betty, who looks absolutely terrified. Alice then raises her arm like she's about to stab her own damn daughter.
So, um, first of all, WHAT? Second of all, WHY? Third of all, is it a dream? Please say it's a dream! I can't take this anymore!
Elsewhere, promo images for 'Tangerine' have also been released by The CW. They show Toni alongside Jughead, Betty, Archie and Veronica standing at the edge of Sweetwater River, supporting Cheryl as she says goodbye to her brother once and for all.
Archie and FP (who is back in his leather Serpent jacket - we LOVE to see it!) team up to take down Dodger and his gang.
Jughead's grandfather (played by Timothy Webber) will also make his appearance in the episode. We'll also hopefully learn more about what happened on that Spring Break flash forward that was teased at the end of season 3, where Betty, Archie and Veronica stood around the fire burning Jughead's beanie.
