Timothy Granaderos (Monty) says 13 Reasons Why season 3 "feels like a different show.”
13 Reasons Why is about to return and the cast promise that season 3 will be the least controversial season yet.
Ever since 13 Reasons Why debuted on Netflix in 2017, it's divided viewers. Some people praise the teen drama for tackling important issues like suicide and rape culture, but others believe that the show sensationalises these serious topics and that it ultimately does more harm than good. Two scenes in particularly have received so much backlash that fans have created petitions to remove them from the show: Hannah's graphic suicide scene and Tyler's gratuitous rape scene.

Now, Timothy Granaderos, who plays Monty de la Cruz, has reassured us that season 3 will be different.
Speaking to Radio Times, Timothy said that season 3 is "not the same as the past two seasons. I don't think you’ll be asking me the same questions about the two prior scenes. There are definitely scenes that are wild but I don't think you'll be asking if any scenes will need to be removed from season three." This is reassuring to hear. After two years, Netflix finally removed Hannah's suicide scene from season 1 but they've left Tyler's rape scene in season 2.
Discussing season 3 in more depth, Timothy said: "Right off the get-go you know it is a murder-mystery, the stakes are very high and everyone is a suspect." He continued: "So, I think fans will be left questioning who they thought they were loyal to. It's going to take off really quickly. Within the first episode or two you're going to be engaged trying to put the mystery together. But I think that's the fun of season three."
He ended the interview saying: "It definitely feels like a different show."
With Hannah (Katherine Langford) now out of the series and the format changing to focus on who murdered Bryce, it does sound like 13 Reasons Why season 3 could be less controversial than its predecessors. That being said, Netflix are yet to release a 13 Reasons Why season without a problematic scene.
Meanwhile, Christian Navarro (Tony) recently defended the show, calling it "groundbreaking".
