Hiram takes a bullet to the chest, FP Jones and Hermione Lodge look like they're forming an alliance and Jughead finally makes moves on the Gargoyle Gang in the next episode of Riverdale.
Following an explosive mid-season premiere featuring the potential death of [SPOILER], the trailer for episode 10 of Riverdale season 3 has arrived and it looks like Hiram Lodge's manipulative schemes are about to be put on hold for an indefinite amount of time BECAUSE HE'S ABOUT TO GET SHOT.
The episode, titled 'The Stranger', will air on Wednesday January 23rd and by the sounds of things, will feature quite a few confrontations. According to a press release, the synopsis for episode 10 reads: With SAT’s around the corner, Alice (Madchen Amick) and FP (Skeet Ulrich) urge Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) to stop investigating G&G and start focusing on their SAT prep. However, when Alice takes things one step too far, Betty is forced to come face-to-face with someone from her past. Finally, Jughead makes a bold move against the Gargoyle Gang.
Oh, and on top of all that... Hiram Lodge is shot in the chest. Yes, Riverdale's big bad has finally been taken down - but who did it? Who shot Hiram?
A lot of things seem to be kicking off in this episode (including an ominous moment between Hermione Lodge and FP Jones) so let's go on a deep dive, shall we?
Mija is crying but why? Is she sad about Archie? Is she feeling guilty about kissing Reggie? Is she crying because her evil dad got shot? WHAT'S WRONG, RONNIE?!
As we all know, Hal Cooper aka the Black Hood will finally make his grand return in next week's episode, but what does he want?! Seeing as Betty grills her mother about money later in the trailer, could Betty be visiting her dad to get the scoop on that Blossom inheritance schmoney? Or maybe the money they got from selling the Register? Whatever it is, it seems strictly business, this is definitely not a "how was your day at school, sweetie?" chit chat.
Ok, so... he's in Dilton's bunker, which is where we later see Fangs filling Jug in on all the tea about the Gargoyle Gang. But what does he find down there? Drugs? Dead bodies?
Clearly, Fred has had it. OFFICIALLY. And he wants to make his bones with Hiram. But will he be the one who pulls the trigger? BITCH, I HOPE SO!
Hermione tells FP that "it's time" but what exactly is it time for, Mrs Mayor? Now, this could go one of two ways... and judging by FP's reaction, it doesn't sound like either way is gonna be good for him. Does she want him to end the Serpents once and for all? Or does she want him to take one for the team (aka her) and kill Hiram? Have they been plotting a long con this entire time?! I don't know... I think she's up to something that's gonna ruin FP's life a little bit.
In case you've forgotten, Alice doesn't have a job which means the Coopers have had like, no income for the past 6 months. Alice got quite a hefty lump sum from the sale of the Register and - if it was ever distributed - Betty should have got a nooooice cheque from Clifford Blossom's inheritance fund (because she's also technically a Blossom, duh...) but it sounds like Alice has squandered the lot. If she's given all her savings over to the Farm... I swear to GOD.
(Also, WHY ARE THEY DRINKING GLASSES OF MILK?! WHAT SADISTIC CULT IS THIS?)!
Fangs, you're a real one. Please be careful. We can't afford to lose you.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?! WHO IS THAT?! IS THAT THE STRANGER? THE TITULAR ROLE?! THAT'S DEFINITELY HIRAM'S CAR, RIGHT?! IS THE KING ABOUT TO SWITCH ON HIM?!
Finally, Riverdale's premiere twirly moustache villain has got his comeuppance but who got the shot in? Was it Fred, who has wanted to kill Hiram since 1867? Was it FP, who might have been conspiring with Hermione? Was it Hermione herself? (Marisol Nichols did just tease an upcoming scene where Hermione has a gun...) Was it Archie? Or was it one of Hiram's associates, worried about being cut out of his complete and utter take over of Riverdale?
Only time will tell...
