The RuPaul's Drag Race franchise is officially coming to Australia. 10 of Australia's (and New Zealand's) best drag artists will compete to be crowned the first Drag Race Down Under superstar. Season 1 will start on May 1, but who will be starring in the competition? Here's your guide to all the queens in Drag Race Down Under. [World of Wonder]
Meet Anita Wigl'lt: She's 31-years-old and hails from Aukland, New Zealand. Anita is already well-known in the world of drag. She's the co-owner of Auckland's Caluzzi Cabaret and host of the TVNZ's House of Drag. She has also won several awards including Vancouver's next top Drag Superstar and Drag Entertainer of the Year 2013. [World of Wonder]
Meet Art Simone: She's 28 and hails from Melbourne, Australia. Art has starred in several Aussie movies, TV shows, theatre productions and commercials. She's also been awarded Drag Performer of the Year for the last two years running and she's represented Australia at RuPaul's DragCon. [World of Wonder]
Meet Coco Jumbo: She's 30 and hails from Sydney, Australia. Coco has several drag accolades under her belt winning Entertainer of the Year in 2017, Sydney's Favourite Showgirl in 2016-2019 and Rising Star in 2015. She's also worked with Absolutely Fabulous stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley and 2014 Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst. [World of Wonder]
Meet Elektra Shock: She's 27 and hails from Aukland, New Zealand. Elektra has been doing drag since 2012 and she was runner up on Season 2 of TVNZ's House of Drag. She is also the star of Pleasuredome The Musical. [World of Wonder]
Meet Etcetera Etcetera: At 22 Etcetera Etcetera is the youngest queen in the competition and hails from Sydney, Australia. Etcetera is non-binary and is the lead performer at Sydney The Imperial Erskineville. [World of Wonder]
Meet Jojo Zaho: She's 30 and hails from Aukland, New Zealand. Jojo started her drag career in 2015 after a council member said that homosexuality is not part of indigenous culture. She has since competed in the Miss First Nation Indigenous drag queen pageant. [World of Wonder]
Meet Karen From Finance from Aukland, New Zealand. Karen is one of the most well-known drag artists in Australia and an original member of the queer cabaret YUMMY. She headlined at RuPaul's DragCon LA in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and has performed all over the US. [World of Wonder]
Meet Kita Mean: She's 34-years-old and hails from Aukland, New Zealand. Kita co-owns the Caluzzi Cabaret in Auckland with her best friend Anita Wigl'it. She has also hosted two series of TVNZ's House of Drag. [World of Wonder]
Meet Maxi Shield: She's 46 and hails from Sydney, Australia. Maxi has been doing drag for 23 years now and she won Entertainer of the Year at the Drag Industry Variety Awards in 2015. She was also named Madonna's National Hostess for her Australian Rebel Heart Tour. [World of Wonder]
Meet Scarlet Adams from Perth, Australia. In her first year of being a drag performer, Scarlet won the title of Queen of the Court and Entertainer of the Year 2016 at the annual PROUD Awards. She was even crowned 2018's Miss Burlesque Western Australia, making her the first drag queen to compete and win the title in Miss Burlesque Australia history. [World of Wonder]
