Ruby Rose Has Deleted Her Twitter After HUGE Batwoman Casting Backlash

“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be Batwoman’ come from?"
In case you missed the news, The CW is developing a standalone Batwoman series that will eventually be part of the network's iconic Arrowverse. Actress Ruby Rose was cast as Kate Kane after it was announced that casting directors were looking for an openly gay actress to portray the lesbian character.
The casting of the out and proud and outspoken LGBTQ+ advocate Rose seemed like an inspired choice but the decision was met with intense backlash from people on Twitter. From general negative comments about her "lack of acting skills" to her not being "femme enough" and not being "gay enough" (?!?!!) for the role, the backlash eventually got so bad that Rose decided to deleted her entire Twitter account. She's also now closed the comments on her Instagram account.
According to various sources, Rose tweeted one final message about the backlash before she deleted her account:
“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be Batwoman’ come from — has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay’ how do y’all flip it like that? I didn’t change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys. When women and when minorities join forces we are unstoppable… when we tear each other down it’s much more hurtful than from any group. But hey, love a challenge I just wish women and the LGBT community supported each other more, My wish was we were all a little kinder and more supportive of each other… Sending everyone my love and gratitude, it’s been a rollercoaster of a year, this month especially. I am looking forward to getting more than 4 hours of sleep and to break from Twitter to focus all my energy on my next 2 projects. If you need me, I’ll be on my Bat Phone.”
Fans flocked to her defence after she left the social media network, many of them calling out the over-entitled comic book fans who complained about her casting.
Ben Affleck was body shamed by bloggers. Grant Gustin was body shamed by fans. Ruby Rose was chased off twitter by gross individuals. Actors and entertainers owe you nothing. Stop with the constant attacking.

Ruby Rose left twitter due to people attacking her over being casted as Batwoman. There is a difference between not liking the casting choice, and attacking the person because you don’t like it. See a therapist if you attack people online, it’s not healthy behavior.

Rose is the latest in a long line of actress who have been driven off social media by aggressive trolls and unnecessary backlash. Star Wars' Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran have both decided to leave social media after fans harassed them over their roles in the franchise. Most recently, Millie Bobby Brown deleted her account after being trolled with homophobic memes.
