Robert Pattinson says he doesn't understand why people like Twilight

Robert Pattinson famously played Edward Cullen in the Twilight films alongside Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.

Robert Pattinson has revealed what he genuinely thinks of Twilight and it's bad news for loyal fans of the books and movies.

As soon as the first Twilight book came out in 2005, it was an international best-seller. The fantasy franchise then became an even bigger phenomenon when it was adapted into a series of blockbuster films in late 2008. People couldn't get enough of teen introvert, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), and her undying love for her vampire beau, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

Since the final Twilight movie came out in 2012, the franchise has continued to hold a special place in the hearts of fans and many of the people who starred in it. However, it turns out that Robert Pattison still doesn't get the obsession with it.

Speaking to Variety about Twilight and why he doesn't get the hype, Robert let his real thoughts be known. He candidly said: "It's a weird story, Twilight. It’s not just like – it’s strange how people responded a lot to it." He added: "I guess the books are very romantic, but at the same time, it’s not like The Notebook romantic." Wait, so Rob isn't Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Robert then went into further detail. He said: "The Notebook is very sweet and heartbreaking, but Twilight is about this guy, and he finds the one girl he wants to be with, and he also wants to eat her... I mean, not eat her, but like drink her blood or whatever. It’s not that other people are telling them they can’t be together, it’s his own body telling him that." And I oop.

This isn't the first time that Robert has criticised Twilight either. During the original press run for the first movie, Robert told E!: "When I read it, it seemed like it was a book that wasn’t supposed to be published." He continued: "I was convinced Stephenie was convinced she was Bella. I was just like, ‘This woman is mad. She’s completely mad."
