Penelope Ann Miller has been spotted on set and fans have been speculating over what character she could be playing.
More and more information about Riverdale season 3 is starting to trickle in after a busy weekend at San Diego Comic Con. From the big mystery surrounding the new season to all the spicy new footage seen in the brand new teaser trailer, season three sounds like it's about to take our wigs and never give them back.
The latest news? A brand new character has officially been confirmed and she sounds like Archie's worst nightmare.
If you've been keeping up with all the behind-the-scenes Instagram posts from the cast, you'll probably have noticed a brand new actor on set - Penelope Ann Miller (American Crime, Mistresses, Kindergarten Cop). In fact, the cast have been pretty vocal about her appearance in the first few episodes of the season and thanks to a few of the comments and captions on the snaps shared by everyone on set, fans of the show were left wondering who the HELL she might be playing.
.
Will she be playing Jughead's mum? Kevin's mum? SOMEONE ELSE'S MUM? Nope. Not even close.
It was announced during the Riverdale panel at San Diego Comic Con yesterday (July 22) that Miller will be portraying Ms. Wright, the prosecutor who is hellbent on sending Archie to jail for the murder of Cassidy Bullock.
According to the official character description, Ms. Wright is “savvy and eloquent,” and “with a conviction in mind, she will weave together disparate moments of Archie’s young life to portray him as a dangerous, violent sociopath who is capable of committing a heinous crime.”
Oh, boy. How long until Hiram slips Ms Wright an envelope with all the tea on Archie and his involvement the Red Circle? How long until someone else spills the tea on his relationship with Ms Grundy? HOW LONG UNTIL SOMEONE POINTS OUT THAT ARCHIE HAD HIS HANDS ON THE GUN WHEN FANGS WAS SHOT? Archie, my son, you are in BIG trouble.
It's not yet been confirmed how many episodes Miller will be in but the role of Ms Wright is reportedly a recurring one, which means Archie's murder trial looks like it's gonna drag on for a preeeeeetty long time.
