Cameron Boyce and Luke Perry fans are outraged that the two late actors were not even mentioned at the ceremony.
Cameron Boyce and Luke Perry were left out of the 2020 Oscars In Memoriam and fans are upset that they weren't part of it.
The Academy Awards are no stranger to receiving criticism. Year on year, the awards show receives backlash over its lack of diversity. At the 2020 ceremony alone, Jennifer Lopez, Lupita Nyong'o and Awkwafina were all snubbed from nominations in the major categories despite receiving critical acclaim for their performances in Hustlers, Us and The Farewell respectively.

Now the Oscars are coming under fire for failing to pay tribute to Cameron Boyce and Luke Perry in their In Memoriam.
Last night (10 Feb), Billie Eilish performed a stunning rendition of The Beatles' 'Yesterday' at the Oscars as part of this year's In Memoriam segment. While she sang, a slideshow played behind her honouring some of the talent we've lost over the last 12 months. The moving In Memoriam included beloved famous faces such as Kobe Bryant, Diahann Carroll and Doris Day.
However, Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce were noticeably absent. Luke Perry tragically passed away following a stroke last February and Cameron Boyce died in his sleep due to a seizure in July 2019. Fans were outraged that neither star was honoured at the ceremony, particularly seeing as Luke starred in Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, which was nominated for Best Picture.

Wait a minute? Let me see if I'm understanding this...the Oscars had a memoriam and somehow Luke Perry was excluded despite that he's in one of the nominated films?! pic.twitter.com/3nth2skJHp

cameron boyce deserved to be honored during the oscars tonight. that is undeniable. cam, you continue to shine so brightly and this world is so grateful for your light

shame on the academy for not including luke perry in the “in memoriam” tribute. seeing as ‘once upon a time in hollywood’ was the last film he made before he passed AND it was up for best picture, I have no words other than I’m disappointed.

cameron boyce had such a huge impact into a lot of people’s lives including people in the film industry. just cause his career centered mostly around disney didnt make him any less of an actor. him being left out of the in memoriam just felt wrong.

As it stands, the Oscars are yet to respond to the backlash. We shall update you if they do.
