The movie would have had SUCH a different vibe with a different Jamey.
You may be aware of the fact that Noah Centineo originally went out for the role of Spence in Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, according to the film's director Ian Samuels. That may sufficiently blow your mind, but what if I told you that a completely different actor was attached to the role of Jamey before Noah eventually landed the role?
Strap in, because Noah's route to his casting as the film's lead sounds like a wild ride. In an interview with ET, screenwriter Lindsey Beer revealed that "Ben Hardy was originally attached to play the part."
Ben Hardy, for anyone not in the know, played Warren Worthington (aka Angel) in X-Men: Apocalypse. Ben's most recent film is Bohemian Rhapsody where he plays Queen drummer Roger Taylor.
According to Lindsey Beer, Ben "had been in one of the producers’ other movies and they thought he’d be great for it and they attached him. His schedule ended up not working out, so we had to audition other people."
In the end, it was apparently Noah's charm that won over the film's casting director, Tamara-Lee Notcutt.
"Even though he was confident, there was something very goofy and awkward as well," she told ET. "He’s grown up a lot in the last two years, it’s been quite amazing to watch. He’s just super adorable, very charming and fun. He felt like a real teenager."
Apparently, 22-year-old Noah does have a knack for playing teens. His role as Peter Kavinsky in To All The Boys I've Loved Before earned him internet boyfriend status immediately following the film's mid-August release.
It would have been interesting to see Ben Hardy in the role, but Noah as Jamey just means more gif-able moments of the Netflix star and we, HONESTLY could never pass that up.
