Nielsen just gave a glimpse into how many people are actually watching Netflix's controversial teen drama.

13 Reasons Why season two dropped on Netflix two weeks ago and it's now been estimated just how many people actually tuned in to watch the show and how many people, like you, managed to binge watch the entire thing within the first three days of release.

Netflix famously doesn't release the viewing figures for its shows but Nielsen is able to get an idea the size of the audience based on internet-connected TVs. It's also worth bearing in mind, however, the data only covers the US audience and doesn't include mobile devices or computers - which is where most of us watch Netflix. (Netflix actual viewing figures will be much much higher.)

According to Nielsen's data, the first episode of 13 Reasons Why season two averaged 6.1 million viewers in the US within the first three days of its release which is not too shabby at all.

In case you were wondering, that's roughly the same as Lost In Space but LESS THAN HALF the number of viewers that tuned in to watch the first episode of Stranger Things 2 - which Nielsen estimates averaged close to 16 million viewers in the first three days.

Nielsen also released a full season viewership chart that shows just how many binge-watchers actually managed to complete the series within the first three days. The answer? It was just less than a million. No doubt those figures will have increased massively over the first 10 days of release.

Now we don't feel so bad for wasting our entire weekend in a dark room pining over Zach and Hannah, seeing as almost one million other people did the exact same thing. Binge-watching a 13 episode show in 3 days should be an Olympic sport, tbh.
