Meet the cast of Netflix's brand new post-apocalyptic teen show...
Netflix's new post-apocalyptic teen show has a huge cast full of new and familiar faces. From the young newcomers to the Hollywood legend Matthew Broderick himself, here's a breakdown of who is playing each character and what you might have seen them in before.
Josh, played by Colin, is a 17-year-old who was basically invisible before the bomb went off. Post-apocalypse, Josh is living it up and on the hunt for his missing girlfriend, Sam. You'll know Colin from his roles in Captain Marvel (as Steve Danvers) and CBS' Under The Dome where he played Joe McAlister.
British actress Sophie plays Sam, the most-liked girl in Glendale. Before the attack, she helped Josh come out of his shell and helped the principal understand his students. But since the attack, she’s disappeared. Sophie previously appeared on Disney Channel's The Lodge and in a recent episode of Poldark.
Burr is Glendale High’s calm, collected principal who wants so desperately to fit in with his students. He often appears in flashbacks as the teens explain what life was like before the apocalypse. Screen and stage legend Matthew has appeared in almost everything you've ever watched, most notably Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Producers and Deck The Halls. He was also the voice of adult Simba in Disney's The Lion King, in case ya didn't already know.
Mona Lisa is Turbo's fierce and stoic sidekick who is out for blood (with a deadly razor-wire lacrosse stick). Newcomer Jeanté previously appeared in The Simone Biles Story as Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles.
Cody, who you'll instantly recognise as Moose from Riverdale, plays the former popular quarterback who becomes the terrifying, murderous leader of The Jocks. Post-apocalypse, Turbo wears a mask to cover his scars from the blast and only speaks in grunts.
Wesley, played by Austin, was a star athlete who hung out with the jocks in high school. Post-apocalypse, he takes a page from his favourite kung-fu movies and becomes a contemplative samurai warrior. If you've seen Booksmart, you'll instantly recognise Austin as Alan, the fabulously dramatic actor and stunt queen. He was also in Netflix's Trinkets earlier this year.
Angelica, the youngest of the bunch, is an unstable genius with flexible morality and a flame-thrower. 12-year-old Alyvia has appeared in several TV shows before Daybreak including Transparent, Masters of Sex and The Young and Restless.
Krysta plays Ms Crumble who, post-bomb, becomes The Witch. She's one of the few adults who survived the blast but somehow, it affected her brain and now she talks to an army of doll heads. Krysta has previously had roles in ABC's Quantico and cult TV hit Smash.
Gregory plays goofy Eli, who makes up for not having many material possessions before the bomb by taking over the Glendale Mall. While Daybreak is Gregory's first major TV role, he's also appeared in episodes of The Middle and Hawaii 5-0.
Joe plays the role of Turbo's dad, Karl Pokaski. You'll obviously know Joe from True Blood, One Tree Hill, Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL.
Jade plays Demi, the fierce leader of the Cheermazons. Jade previously played the role of Jordan Gladwell in iZombie.
Chelsea plays the role of KJ, a student who becomes friends with Josh at Eli's mall. The other kids think she only speaks Chinese but she later reveals that she's American and speaks English. Chelsea previously appeared in Andi Mack as Brittany and in DC's Titans as Rose Wilson/Ravager.
