Your first look at Luke Perry's final on-screen role has arrived in the new trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
The film, which boasts an a-list cast lead by Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, is set to be released in July 2019. It tells the story of television actor Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) as they make their way through a changing film industry. Robbie plays Sharon Tate, whose story and tragic murder at the hands of Charles Manson's cult is also intertwined in the 1969 narrative.
Riverdale will address Luke Perry's death at the start of season 4
Luke, who passed away after completing filming on the movie, plays the role of Scott Lancer, a fictional actor who stars alongside DiCaprio's Dalton in one of his shows. His character is an homage to the CBS Western series Lancer, which featured actor Wayne Maunder as a character called 'Scott Lancer'.
Speaking to EW, producer David Heyman said that Perry “brings a very vivid character who is charismatic, and he brings heart to whatever he does. I think that it will be a pleasure for those fans of Luke to see.”
“Luke went in and won that part and deserved that part and owned that part, so it’s really special that was a bucket list that he was able to work with Quentin,” said Shannon McIntosh, also a producer on the film. "His performance is amazing and he will be remembered as we release this movie, and his family will celebrate his performance with us.”
Here's what happened in Luke Perry's bittersweet final scene on Riverdale
In a new cover feature with Esquire, both Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio revealed how starstruck they were when they first met Luke on set.
"I remember my friend Vinny, who is in the film as well, we walked in and we both had this butterfly moment of like, “Oh my God, that’s Luke Perry over there!” said Leo.
Brad added: "'That’s Luke fucking Perry!' We were like kids in the candy shop because I remember going to the studios and [Beverly Hills, 90210] was going on and he was that icon of coolness for us as teenagers. It was this strange burst of excitement that I had, to be able to act with him. Man, he was so incredibly humble and amazing and absolutely committed. He couldn’t have been a more friendly, wonderful guy to spend time with."
