How will Riverdale address Luke Perry's passing? Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has opened up about how the show plans to honour him.
Following the devastating death of Luke Perry a few weeks ago, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has opened up to ET Online in an exclusive interview about how the show is going address his absence - and honour him and his character Fred Andrews on-screen.
Luke passed away on March 4th after suffering a stroke. He was 52 years old. Following the news, fans have been wondering how (or even if) the show will deal with Luke's passing given the incredibly sad circumstances.
Here's how Riverdale paid tribute to Luke Perry in first episode since his death
It's now been confirmed that the show plans to address Perry’s death through his on-screen character, but as of right now, no official decisions have been made about how or what is going to happen to Archie's dad Fred.
"You know, honestly, we are I think all still in shock and are all still processing and grieving," Aguirre-Sacasa told ET. "We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honour him."
At the time of his passing, Luke had completed filming on a handful of episodes that are still yet to air. “There are still a few more episodes that have Luke in them, so we’re glad to share those,” revealed Aguirre-Sacasa.
It's not yet known when his final scene will be but we're sure that both Luke and Fred, who were both the heart and soul of Riverdale, will be honoured in a beautiful and moving way.
In the first episode that aired following his death, the show paid tribute to Luke by dedicating the hour to him. Aguirre-Sacasa also revealed that "all episodes will be [dedicated to Luke] for the rest of our run."
