Kardashians Slammed For Praising Kim By Calling Her ‘Anorexic’

This is not on...
It's no shock that the Kardashians are surrounded by controversy. As one of the most famous families in the entire world, the reality TV queens are always in the spotlight. However, sometimes their controversies are more problematic than others. Last night Kim shared a video on Insta Stories in which her sisters praised her for how skinny she is and even used 'anorexic' as a compliment.

In the clips that Kim shared to her timeline, her younger sister Kendall Jenner talks to Kim about her weight saying: "No, I'm really concerned, I don't think you're eating. Like, you look so skinny." Kim then says: "Oh my god, thank you!" Khloe then adds: "I've never seen a human being look as good. You are a walking Face Tune, doll."
Khloe also goes onto laud Kim's shape saying: "She's fucking voluptuous, she's like this - but she's anorexic here. Her arms are pin thin, they're like my pinky". Kim laps up the praise but also reveals that she's "down to 119 pounds" and implies that she wants to lose even more weight. Kim's own weight goals are her own of course but the language that she uses implies that skinniness is something to aspire to.
Of course this is not okay. There is nothing wrong at all with losing weight in healthy ways but anorexia is a very real disease that many people experience and it is not something to make light of in any way. The Kardashians are not alone in using this kind of vocabulary as a form of flattery but it doesn't make their use of it any less problematic.

Unsurprisingly the internet is not here for it. Here are just a few of the reactions.
Some want to reiterate that these kind of statements are not compliments.

‘you look anorexic’ NOT a compliment.
‘you look like you’re not eating’ NOT a compliment.
eating disorders are not fucking glamorous or complimentary so let’s stop treating them as such.
This is so important.
Others are dismayed by it all.
Kim Kardashian being obsessed with her sisters telling her she’s so skinny she looks anorexic on her Instagram story makes me want to throw my phone into outer space

Kim has been criticised for similar things in the past.
The video comes just after people called out Kim for her lolly advert.
Kendal: “No, like I’m concerned I don’t think you’re eating”

Kim: “whAAAT?”
Kendal: “like you look so skinny!”
Kim: “oh my god thank you!!!!”@KimKardashian what kind of bullshit message does this send out to your mainly young and female audience, especially after the lolly ad.
Kim previously advertised weight loss lollies on Instagram.
A couple of people are worried about the effect that these videos could have on Kim's followers.
I know it’s not Kim Ks responsibility to guide young girls, but she is influential and her being so happy about that ‘anorexic’ comment can be damaging and have such a negative impact. Like why do you have to share that on you platform where you have millions of people?

Celebrities need to be more considerate with the content that they choose to share.
A few fans aren't happy that Kim claimed that '119 pounds' isn't 'skinny'.
Kim Kardashian saying she’s not that skinny and that she’s 119 pounds in the same video is a real fucking bummer

This endorses unrealistic beauty standards for women.
Last but not least there are those who are tweeting to remind people that weight is not linked to being gorgeous.
To anyone who watched Kim Kardashian’s insta story where everyone went around a circle and praised her for “looking like she’s not eating” and being “soooooo skinny” - this is your reminder that you don’t have to be thin to be gorgeous. You is fine mama, every piece of you 💘

Now this is a message that we can get behind.
As it stands, Kim has not responded to the backlash but we shall update you if she does.
