The 'Riverdale' universe is getting a new addition in the form of a 'Katy Keene' pilot ordered at the CW.
The Riverdale universe is expanding. Fans of the teen drama could soon be saying hello to a new series from the creators of Riverdale. The CW has ordered a pilot for a spin-off based on the Archie comics character Katy Keene.
Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is at the helm, alongside fellow Riverdale writer Michael Grassi.

The musical dramedy will chronicle the lives of four main characters, including the titular character, Katy Keene, as they chase their dreams in New York City.
Per Deadline, Katy Keene "follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City. This musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio."
The raven haired character has been a part of the Archie comics universe since she first appeared in print in 1945 (Wilbur Comics #5). Katy Keene is a "pin up girl" in the comics as well as a fashionista, so it will interesting to see the modern interpretation of the iconic young starlet.
This will be the third Archie Comics show that Aguirre-Sacasa will spearhead and it would appear that all three have completely different vibes. Chilling Adventures is spooky and magical, Riverdale is dark and mystery driven, and it seems Katy Keene will have a lot of singing and performance elements.
