Joey took to Twitter to reveal that the man thought she had cancer because she's bald...

It is no secret that Joey King is one of the breakthrough stars of 2018. After wowing fans as a child actress in The Conjuring and Ramona & Beezus, she has since shot to international fame thanks to her turn as Elle in the hit teen drama The Kissing Booth. She also received widespread acclaim for her performance as Wren in Slender Man this August. Critics and fans alike cannot get enough of her.

Last month Joey shaved her hair for next major role. The 19-year-old will be playing the part of Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu's new true crime anthology series The Act. So far so normal. Except over the weekend, someone sat next to Joey on a plane assumed that she had cancer and thought that it was okay to joke about it. Wtf? Joey took to Twitter afterwards to explain what happened.

Last night Joey tweeted: "Y’all I’m on a plane & this man next to me literally turned to me with his phone in my face & took a photo of me as if I wouldn’t notice". It goes without saying that this is not okay but it gets even worse. Joey then added: "& texted his wife that he’s sitting next to a girl who has cancer (just cuz I’m bald) & that hes scared to “catch it”...Y R PPL STUPID SUMTIMES".

Seriously, people can be the worst. Joey followed up the tweet by revealing: "I read his text over his shoulder it said “some bald chick next to me with Fckn cancer coughed and I don’t wanna catch it”.....um ya jokin?".

Check out Joey's tweets in full below.

There is so much wrong with this. First of all you shouldn't take photos of people without their consent. Then there's the fact that cancer is not contagious and that being bald and having cancer are in no way mutually exclusive. Also shaming anyone for their appearance in 2018? Tragic.

Fans immediately replied to Joey's tweet with kind words of support. One wrote: "you are a strong, beautiful and confident woman, who doesn’t need hair to feel beautiful" and another tweeted: "UGH. THAT IS NOT OKAY. Cancer is a serious and painful disease".

Fingers crossed that people learn something from this incident and that Joey doesn't have to go through this sort of experience again.
