In January, it was announced that the Lizzie McGuire reboot had halted filming.
Hilary Duff just might have let slip why filming stopped on the highly-anticipated Lizzie McGuire reboot, which was supposed to run on Disney+.
Last month, it was revealed that Lizzie McGuire had stopped filming despite being two episodes in. The original series creator and showrunner, Terri Minsky, also announced that she would be stepping away from the show. "After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the series," a Disney+ statement read.

The rebooted Lizzie McGuire, which last aired in 2004, was meant to explore her new life as a 30-year-old mum-of-two. Needless to say, fans were incredibly disappointed about the news that filming had come to a stand still.
None of the cast went into further detail about why the show had really stopped filming… until now. Hilary suggested that Disney+ cancelled Lizzie McGuire because it wasn't "family friendly".
Basically, on Tuesday (Feb 25) it was announced that Love, Victor – a spinoff series of 2018 movie Love, Simon – would move to Hulu because it wasn't "family friendly" and Hulu has more "young adult programming". Apparently, Disney was concerned about the show – which follows a young boy named Victor (Michael Cimino) who is struggling with his sexuality – containing "adult themes".
Hilary shared a screenshot about the cancellation on her Instagram Story and circled the headline, which read: "Love, Simon TV show pulled from Disney+ as it's not 'family friendly'." She then added the caption: "Sounds familiar…"
For now, Disney have said that Lizzie McGuire hasn't been cancelled and it needs a new show runner. So, surely it'll just hop on over to Hulu just like Love, Victor, right? Er, well we don't really know. Speaking in a new interview with Variety, Terri Minsky said she was left "completely in the dark" about whether the show would move there or not.

She said: "I am so proud of the two episodes we did. Hilary [Duff] has a grasp of Lizzie McGuire at 30 that needs to be seen. It’s a wonderful thing to watch. I would love the show to exist, but ideally, I would love it if it could be given that treatment of going to Hulu and doing the show that we were doing. That’s the part where I am completely in the dark.
"It’s important to me that this show was important to people. I felt like I wanted to do a show that was worthy of that kind of devotion."
