Watch the Happiest Seasons trailer starring Kristen Stweart
This round-up is for everyone still thirsting over Aubrey Plaza in the film.
Happiest Season starring Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis and Aubrey Plaza is here and the memes are all kinds of iconic.
Last week (Nov 25), Happiest Season debuted on Hulu and it's already one of the most-talked-about films of 2020. The new holiday movie tells the story of girlfriends Abby (Kristen Stewart) and Harper (Mackenzie Davis). Harper asks Abby to spend Christmas with her family. Harper isn't out to her parents though and she wants Abby to keep their relationship a secret.
The film is equal parts emotional and entertaining and both Kristen and Mackenzie are excellent. However, it's Aubrey Plaza as Harper's out, lesbian ex Riley who steals the show. Viewers are not only thirsting over Riley but they're also shipping her with Abby and the Happiest Season memes prove just how many people ship Abby and Riley over Abby and Harper.
The film ends with Harper coming out to her family and staying with Abby but it's easy to see why people are sad that Abby didn't end up with Riley instead. Harper only tells Abby that she isn't out to her family when they're already on their way to her parents and she makes Abby pretend a) that they are only friends and b) that she isn't gay either.
While coming out is different for everyone, it doesn't excuse how Harper treats Abby. By contrast, Riley, who was outed by Harper as a teenager when they were dating, is one of the only characters in the film who is nothing but kind to Abby. On top of that, she's ridiculously hot and Kristen Stewart and Aubrey Plaza have insane chemistry.
With that in mind, here are just a few of the funniest memes that Happiest Season has inspired so far.

to jump on the happiest season discourse on my tl: i feel like you can be empathetic and understanding of harper's struggle to come out to her family but also ackowledge that some of her actions towards abby weren't really okay and do all that without villainizing her
