Gypsy Rose Blanchard has called off her engagement to her former partner, Ken. The two met after exchanging emails and planned to marry while she was in prison. However, Gypsy and Ken have now cancelled those plans, according to a newly released statement.
Hulu's runaway hit The Act told the story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a young woman who pled guilty to the second degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Her mother was believed to have Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which manifested in the medical abuse of her young daughter.
Since the tragic story was dramatised on the streaming platform, there has been a renewed interest in the real life woman at the heart of the case. Gypsy Rose has made multiple statements from prison (via spokespeople), including to announce her engagement. Now Gypsy Rose's family have revealed that her engagement and relationship have apparently ended.

Back in July, a photo of Gypsy Rose's fiancé Ken was released to E! News. Prior statements to the press confirmed that "the couple ha[d] known each other for a year and a half and started dating after meeting as pen pals while Blanchard was behind bars".
Unfortunately, her family confirmed this week that Gypsy Rose and Ken are no longer planning to marry.
E! News shared an announcement from an insider which confirmed the break up.
"The two were planning to get married in January while Gypsy is still in prison, but they have now cancelled those plans," the source said. "Both Gypsy and Ken are brokenhearted over the situation and still have nothing but love for each other."
The insider also told E: "They each intend on taking some time apart to focus on themselves as individuals."
According to People magazine, Ken first contacted Gypsy after seeing her in the 2017 documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest.
Gypsy Rose is currently in the middle of her 10-year prison sentence. She is up for parole in 2023 and has asked those following her story to write letters supporting her early release.
