Grand Army is out now on Netflix and quickly amassing fans all around the world. Will the show get another season though?
Grand Army is Netflix's latest teen drama. Set in New York, the series aims to give viewers a raw, honest look at what it's like to be a teenager today. The TV show follows five highschoolers: outspoken feminist Joey (Odessa A'zion), grade A student Dom (Odley Jean), popular jock Sid (Amir Bageria), musical genius Jay (Maliq Johnson) and new girl Leila (Amalia Yoo).

Naturally, people are keen to find out if Grand Army will return to Netflix for a second season. With that in mind, here's what you need to know about season 2, including the release date, cast, trailer, spoilers and news about what's to come.
As of right now, there is no concrete news as to whether or not Grand Army will get a second season. That will likely depend on how popular the first series ends up being and whether or not it resolves its behind the scenes conflict. Before the show even came out it faced controversy. One of the writers called out Grand Army showrunner Katie Cappiello for racism.
When the initial Grand Army trailer dropped, Ming Peiffer tweeted: "Me and the 3 writers of color who worked on the show quit due to racist exploitation and abuse. The show runner and creator went full Karen and called Netflix hr on the Black writer in the room for getting a haircut. Yes you read that correctly."
She then added: "Netflix was fully aware of it all and did nothing except hire more writers of color to lend their names to the show. Then had the audacity to reach out 2 years later in anticipation of the release to “hear our concerns” bih we told you what happened 2 years ago!"
Currently, neither Netflix nor Katie have responded to Ming's comments. We shall update you if/when they do and whether Netflix renews the show.
With the show yet to be officially renewed, there is no Grand Army season 2 release date as it stands. Netflix are also known for waiting to drop release dates weeks before shows come out, so we probably won't find out anything about when exactly we'll be seeing Grand Army season 2 until months from now.
That being said, Netflix tend to release new seasons of shows annually, so we imagine that Grand Army season 2 will air on the streaming service around October 2021. Although, with many series facing production delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, it may not come out until 2022.
Again there's no confirmation just yet but it seems likely that all of the main characters from Grand Army season 1 will come back in season 2. In other words, expect to see cast members Odessa A'zion (Joey), Odley Jean (Dom), Amir Bageria (Sid), Maliq Johnson (Jay) and Amalia Yoo (Leia) all return for more.
We also reckon that most fan favourites will back. This means Alphonso Romero II (John), Ashley Granger (Meera), August Blanco Rosenstein (Victor), Jaden Jordan (Owen), Zac Kara (Omar) and the rest of the show's most loved characters will probably get more screen time in season 2.
Not to mention, Anthony Ippolito (George), Thelonius Serrell-Freed (Tim), Brian Altemus (Luke) will almost definitely be back as we find out what happens to them in the wake of their storyline with Joey.
With so many unresolved storylines, there is plenty that could happen in Grand Army season 2 if the show returns to Netflix.
First things first, we hope to see Dom thriving as she balances her internship with school and her adorable relationship with John. Elsewhere, Sid has just been accepted into Harvard so season 2 will no doubt explore his university journey. We also hope to see more of Victor now that the two characters have finally hooked up.
Meanwhile, Jay has just protested the treatment of Black students at Grand Army by standing in silence at a recital instead of performing his saxophone solo. Season 2 will probably explore the aftermath of his protest and, whether or not, he can rebuild his friendship with Owen.
In the season finale, we also learn that Leila sent an anonymous email threatening to bomb the entire school. No one knows it was her yet but we doubt she can keep that secret hidden for too long. She has also started texting George again which can only mean trouble.
Finally, the last scenes show Joey working through the trauma of her sexual assault and Tim finally admitting that he saw George and Luke rape her. Going into season 2, it's possible that Tim will publicly speak out against George and Luke. Whether or not that will lead to any semblance of justice for Joey though is yet to be seen.
There aren't any Grand Army season 2 trailers right now but we'll keep you posted as soon as one drops.
