It's very nearly time for the Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 release date, so when is it coming out, who's in the cast and what's the plot for the new series?
Emily in Paris season three ended on the ultimate cliffhanger after a tense final episode, so Netflix viewers already have high hopes for season four, which is coming out in two parts this August and September.
The hit TV show's fourth series will give plenty of scope when it comes to the futures of its cast and characters; Emily, Mindy, Gabriel, Camille and Alfie, whose lives are only set to get more complicated as they head to Rome and meet new business acquaintances, some of Sylvie's old pals and potential love interests for Emily. More on that below!
The past few series have been released over the month of December and the Paris-set series is becoming somewhat of a Christmas tradition for loyal fans, so Netflix threw us a curveball when they announced the Emily in Paris series four release dates are in August and September, in two parts.
Until then, we've gathered all the information so far about the new series, including the cast members likely to return, new cast members, the trailer and the plot.
Emily in Paris series four will be released in two parts; Part 1 on 15th August and Part 2 on 12th September. The cast, including Lily Collins, Ashley Park and Lucas Bravo confirmed the release dates in a video, with Ashley – who plays Mindy – revealing the new season is "not finished yet", which might give us a clue as to why it's being released in two parts.
The cast resumed filming in January this year, after taking a pause due to the writers' strikes and fans were hoping for a December 2024 release, so this earlier release date had fans of the show rejoicing.
Despite its seemingly permanently sunny setting, Emily in Paris series one, two and three have always dropped in the wintry months, with the first coming out in October 2020 and the last two being released in December 2021 and 2022.
Netflix has revealed that series four will follow the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s wedding where Emily was left reeling.
As Emily finds herself falling for two men, Fabriel is about to become a father and her ex, Alfie, realises his worst fears have come true about Emily and Gabriel.
The pair's chemistry is unmatched as they continue working for a Michelin star, but there are two massive secrets that threaten everything they've worked towards.
Lily teased some very unexpected twists for the upcoming season, explaining in a video uploaded by Netflix that Emily has a lot coming up in her life.
Teasing more of what's to come in season 4, she said that Emily's life will have “some unexpected twists,” including a Roman holiday and an ultimatum!
Could this mean a brief 'Emily In Italy' moment?!
“Emily is going to have to decide if she’s ever wanted is really what she needs,” Lily teased.
At the start of June 2024, Netflix released a preview of what's to come and they said "It’s time for Emily Cooper to update her language-learning app because our favourite American in Paris is headed for a few new European destinations in Emily in Paris Season 4."
Creator Darren Star spoke to Tudum, “Emily finds herself with a busy travel schedule in Season 4 of Emily in Paris. From the French Alps to the piazzas of Rome, viewers will vicariously experience amazing new locations through Emily’s eyes. Expect new characters, a lot more drama, romance, and a whole new language to try and master.”
Darren spoke to Deadline about what to expect from series four, explaining: "I think that a big question to think about [in] the next season is, Emily didn’t come to Paris for romance, she came for a job, and I think they’re both in a different, more mature place in their lives, Emily and Gabriel, and definitely a more complicated place.”
He added that the pair would remain connected, potentially continuing to live in the same building.
Star went on: "They’re all very much tied together. But I just think there were some big unforeseen complications here, especially for Emily. And perhaps Emily-Gabriel is not meant to be, at least in the immediate future.”

Netflix has confirmed that the following cast and characters will be in season 4.
Marcello (Franceschini) is thought to be a new love interest for Emily, originally from Rome Marcello is "direct, confident and values simplicity." His character description adds: "He's substantive but never flashy – true to the roots of his family's company."
The Italian actor's involvement in the show was confirmed when he and Emily were spotted filming by Rome's Trevi Fountain.
Although most of the show is filmed in Paris, hence the name, series four will see Emily venture further into Europe as her character visits Italy.
Marcello's mum is also introduced. Antonia, portrayed by Anna Galiena, is the matriarch of the family and runs the family business. Her character description reads: "Antonia presides over their small village by building up the community and taking care of the people who live and work there."
Emily in Paris fans will also get to know Genevieve (Besson), the 20-something-year-old daughter of Laurent who Emily quickly takes under her wing as they bond over their American roots. Genevieve's 'bright and eager demeanour immediately endears her to Emily, who’s thrilled to have an American expat to mentor," reads Genevieve's character synospsis.
"But their similarities may end up complicating Emily’s life both professionally and personally."
The Netflix show is also set to get another familiar face in the form of Rupert Everett who plays Giorgio, the owner of an interior design business based in Rome and long-time friend of Sylvie's.
He's not the only member of Sylvie's past to join season four, with new character Giancarlo, a "charming, self-assured and successful Roman commercial director who used to be Sylvie's film professor."

From the first look photos fans will notice one thing in particular, winter fashion.
Executive producer and director Andrew Fleming told Tudum, “We’re getting a different textural feel of Paris. It was fun to think about the city in a different way for scenes that are more dramatically oriented, and to see Paris not all sunny and flowery but to see it a little grey and cosier and people in coats and dark skies."
"It’s just as beautiful during the winter, if not more so... Naturally, that includes lots of new layers, both sartorially and culturally."
