This will 100% have season 3 consequences.
The last episode of 13 Reasons Why season 2 was certainly a tense one. Tyler Down's character arc took an emotional and unsettling turn, leading him to seek revenge in the form of a school shooting.
Before Tyler has the chance to storm the school dance, Clay talks him down, eventually aiding his escape with the help of Tony. The scene is jarring and tees up season 3 rather efficiently.
Dylan Minnette plays Clay on the show and revealed that he thinks Clay's decision to confront Tyler was unwise. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dylan pretty much says what we were ALL thinking during that tense stand-off.
“I think we’re supposed to know and believe that what Clay did is the wrong decision to make. They should have locked the doors inside and called the police and let everyone know what was happening. I think we are not supposed to believe that Clay made the right decision, even though it was ultimately successful. We’re supposed to believe that that is a decision that Clay would make because he is someone who acts on his emotions, without thinking his actions through, and really tries to take everything on himself.”
Dylan goes on to explain that Clay's guilt over not being there for Hannah might be what leads him to try and make up for it with Tyler. Clay's savior complex has gotten him into trouble before, but nothing to the degree that audiences witnessed at the end of season 2.
There are a lot of unanswered questions that will need to be addressed in season 3. How Clay gets out of this situation will undoubtedly have audiences on the edge of their seats until the Liberty high gang return to our screens in 2019.
