Netflix renews Blood & Water for season 2

Ama Qamata, Khosi Ngema and the rest of the cast are expected to return for season 2 of the Netflix series.
Blood & Water fans, we are officially heading back to Parkhurst College! Netflix has confirmed that season 2 of the South African teen drama is on the way – and the announcement video might be one of the best announcement videos you've ever seen.
In case you aren't familiar with the series, Blood & Water follows Puleng Khumalo (played by Ama Qamata), a 16-year-old girl who transfers to Parkhurst after a chance encounter with someone who she believes is her older sister, who was abducted at birth. There's plenty of drama and plenty of twists that revolve around the scandalous lives of Cape Town's elite.

The show (released on 20th May) quickly became popular with viewers, charting at number 1 on Netflix's Top 10 in multiple countries, so it's no surprise that the highly-anticipated season 2 is officially on the way.
We all know Netflix loves a good announcement video when sharing the news of a show's renewal. Blood & Water show-runner and director Nosipho Dumisa broke the news to the cast members herself, telling them face-to-face that they had been picked up for a second season.
"I actually got a call the other day from some certain people from Netflix," Nosipho says to Ama, "And they were like, 'By the way, we love the show so much, we can't get enough, we're definitely renewing season 2 and you guys need to get going.'" A visibly shook Ama then replies, "Shut the front door!"

Blood & Water director Nosipho Dumisa announces season 2 to emotional cast members
While details about Blood & Water season 2 are currently thin on the ground, the ending of season 1 gives us plenty of room for theories and hints about what could possibly happen next. Per a statement from Netflix, the second season will "see Puleng and Fikile deal with the consequences of their explosive confrontation as more mystery and drama unfolds".
Khosi Ngema, Ama Qamata, Natasha Thahane, Gail Mabalane, Cindy Mahlangu, Thabang Molaba, Arno Greeff and Dillon Windvogel are all expected to return for season 2.
Speaking about the renewal, Nosipho Dumisa said: "Blood & Water's success is a testament to the hard work put in by the entire team towards expanding the African narrative in a new and exciting direction. It’s a privilege and a blessing to return to our beloved characters, as we delve further into the greater mystery and scandals of their world. Parkhurst is about to get really messy."
There's currently no confirmation on when the show will resume filming, nor is there any details on when season 2 will be released.
