Remember when Lucy and Felix stole the car and left the house in Bird Box? Here's what happened to them...
It's been two weeks since Bird Box dropped on Netflix and we haven't stopped thinking about it since. The Sandra Bullock-led apocalypse movie has already broken records on the streaming service, with over 45 million accounts watching the film within the first seven days.
If you are one of the 17 people who have not seen the film, Bird Box follows the story of Malorie, a pregnant woman who finds herself stranded alongside a group of survivors who are all hiding from a mysterious entity that causes people to kill themselves on sight. It's a wild ride from start to finish and one that managed to leave us with more questions than we got answers.
‘Bird Box’ originally had a much darker ending and it's so disturbing
One of the biggest unanswered questions - amongst the 352 other unanswered questions we also had - was what happened to Lucy (Rosa Salazar) and Felix (Machine Gun Kelly). For those of you who have watched the movie, you'll remember that Lucy and Felix snuck out of the house, stole the car and drove away, never to be seen again.
No one knew where they went or if they even survived but now, it looks like we finally have somewhat of an answer, thanks to director Susanne Bier.
Speaking to People, Bier teased where she believes the couple went after they stole the car from the garage, leaving the rest of the survivors on their own in the house without wheels.
"I think [the grocery store] was their plan, but we don't know," she said. "I think that that's where they wanna go, but I actually think it's quite exciting that we don't know exactly where they went."
Ok, so... we can assume that they left to head to the grocery store but did they even make it there? Did they survive? Are they still alive? We need answers! Guess we'll never quite know for sure what happened to our second favourite apocalypse couple.
Bier also explained why Malorie's doctor Dr Lapham (Parminder Nagra) was at the sanctuary at the end of the movie, but didn't explain how she got there.
"I felt that it needed some real hope," she said. "And I thought having someone else survive, and having someone who she met at a point where she was kind of rejecting life, and having to meet at that point [where she's embracing it]. I felt it was a really warm and hopeful element to the ending. And it also makes us think, 'Oh, there are other survivors!'"
Of course, Dr Lapham was still at the hospital when the entity started killing people. Malorie and Jessica only made it a few minutes away from the hospital before Jessica got "infected." Given that it took Malorie over 48 hours to reach Rick's safe house from where she was, how did Dr Lapham make it down there? Did she take on the rapids? Or was she able to drive using GPS all the way from the hospital?
Will I ever be able to sleep at night again without knowing the answer to these questions? Unlikely.
