The house in 'Bird Box' is a real place and you can actually visit it

'Bird Box' is just the gift that keeps on giving. From Bird Box memes to the dangerous Bird Box challenge, Netflix really came through with this movie. Who would have known that when it dropped in December, it would go on to become Netflix's most streamed film ever in a seven day period. 

The story follows Malorie (Sandra Bullock), a woman just trying to survive with her two children after a mysterious entity kills off most of the world's population by driving them to take their own lives. To survive, Malorie has to make a dangerous journey to safety with her two children, Boy and Girl, all while blindfolded.

Now, fans of the post-apocalyptic thriller flick are visiting Monrovia, CA, where the house in the movie is, and turning the site into a major tourist attraction.

Loads of people have been turning up outside the property to take photos, with one couple even going on a date there... ah, romance. One group were even knocking on the door on Christmas Day and asking the owners if they could take pictures.

According to TMZ, the owner of the house – which is about 20 miles Northeast of Los Angeles – was paid $12,000 by the filmmakers so they could film outside. Ever since "polite" tourists have been trying to see the spot where Malorie, Boy and Girl took refuge – in blindfolds, of course.

It's not just Bird Box, though, the house has featured in numerous Hollywood movies, although the home owner couldn't remember them all.

The unexpected tourist hotspot has been a hit online.

However, despite her house's pivotal role in the movie the owner revealed she has absolutely no plans to watch it – she doesn't even have Netflix.
