Bella Thorne also spoke up about how coming out as bisexual cost her roles...
Bella Thorne may be best known for her off screen antics these days but she is also one of the most prolific actresses of her generation. At the age of just 21, she's starred in over 30 films, 20 TV series and she shows no signs of slowing down. From Shake It Up to Assassination Nation, Bella is the textbook definition of booked and busy and it's always exciting to see the sorts of projects she gets involved in.
Bella recently caught up with Gay Times to discuss her career to date, her numerous business ventures and what's next for her this year and beyond. Not only that but she also talked in depth about her personal life. Bella spoke about how coming out as bisexual cost her roles and also touched on the hate she gets for being in a throuple with Tana Mongeau and Mod Sun.
Speaking to Alim Kheraj, Bella stated: “I don’t think anybody will really understand the bonds that I share with Mod or Tana." She then added that she, Tana and Mod don't actually attribute any label to their relationship. "Yeah, we joke around about poly, but we aren’t in the sense that we don’t put a word, a box or label too many things. It is what it is.”
Explaining further, Bella went on to say: "It’s not a gay or straight box. It’s this middle in-between world that nobody can put in a box, which makes them so mad. People are so mad that they can’t put it in a box, can’t explain it and can’t see how it works that they hate on it.” Bella, Tana and Mod have been in a relationship since the summer of 2017.
Bella also touched on the backlash she received after she came out: “There were a few places on the acting side that were very negative about it. There was someone who, right after I came out, cancelled my audition. It’s not like anybody comes up to you and says, ‘Well, you’re gay, so I’m not going to hire you.’"
She then said: "But you can just tell by the way that people act differently around you, the way they treat you differently, the way that they look at you or the way that they tiptoe around certain subjects because they’re walking on eggshells. In this business, that behaviour makes it all very obvious.”
Bella's words shed an important light on the prejudice people received for being in non-monogamous relationships and/or bisexual. It's great to see someone in her position be so candid.
