The meaning of the sound in the Avengers Endgame end-credits scene is so emotional...
Avengers: Endgame is finally here and fans are losing it over the emotional meaning of the sound in the post-credits scene.
Avengers Endgame: All of the reviews, reactions and memes so far
Ever since Avengers: Infinity War debuted last year, fans have been desperate to find out what will happen in its 2019 sequel. Will Thanos be defeated? Will our faves who died in the snap be saved? Will anyone lose their lives in the process of saving the universe? All of these questions have been plaguing our minds for the past year and now that Endgame is out viewers have another question: what does the post-credits scene sound mean?
Unlike the rest of the Avengers films, Endgame does not have a traditional post-credits scene. Usually Marvel films end with a teaser as to what's coming in the next movie in the hit franchise but, seeing as Endgame is (technically) the last Phase Three feature, the MCU have opted to let the final scene do the talking. That being said, the movie does contain a post-credits scene of sorts that involves a very specific sound.
After the credits roll in Endgame, you can here the sound of metal clanging. Longterm Marvel fans will likely have recognised it straight away but for those of you who are confused or simply cannot remember, it's really poignant.
The sound is of Tony Stark building Iron Man's suit in the first MCU film Iron Man. Since Endgame is the last in a 22 film saga, the sound is a perfect tribute to how it all began.

Obviously, with this being Marvel, there are other ways in which it is relevant to the plot of Endgame at large.
At the end of Endgame, Tony Stark sacrifices himself to save the entire universe and stop Thanos.
In other words, the post-credits scene isn't just a tribute to the initial MCU film but it's a tribute the man who literally gave his all to the world. We have no doubt that his legacy will live on in all future Marvel films but, for now it's great to see Marvel honour him in such a touching way.
BRB. Crying for eternity.
