Why did he do this?!
Riverdale returned last night and the Season 3 premiere was a wild ride. After literal months of waiting to find out what would happen next to the residents of our favourite town, we've finally been given some answers (and a lot more questions). In this episode alone, we were blessed with a pool party (hosted by Cheryl of course), a kidnapping (poor Hot Dog) and last but not least some major cult antics (Polly and Alice wtf?).
That's not all though. The entire episode revolved around Archie's court case and there was a LOT to take in. In the finale of Season 2, Archie was wrongly arrested for the murder of Cassidy Bullock and this episode saw him go on trial for the killing. In the trial, Archie is represented by his mum, while new character Ms. Wright prosecutes him. It's all pretty tense but fans are losing it over the fact that Archie pleads guilty.
No. We are not joking. Even though Archie had literally nothing at all to do with Cassidy's murder, he pleads guilty to it. Even though practically the whole of Riverdale (expect Hiram) is working to help Archie win his case, he decides to make things more difficult for everyone. Even though the jury is hung and it's a mistrial, Archie accepts an offer to serve two years in a juvenile delinquent centre for manslaughter.
The episode then ends with Fred, FP, Tom and Mary vowing to prove that Hiram framed Archie for Cassidy's murder. On top of that, Veronica then tells Hiram: "You don't have a daughter anymore" (iconic) and we see Archie and some other teenage boys being taken in a bus to Leopold and Loeb Detention Centre. Unsurprisingly, viewers are less than impressed with the outcome.

Judge: You’re ignoring the advice of your counsel, your own mother.
Archie: Yes, Your Honor. I’m guilty

.
The general consensus is 'WHY?!!!!' At the very least this means that we've probably got some dramatic jail scenes to come but we're still pressed. WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU ARCHIE. HOW DARE YOU?!
Fingers crossed that the plea comes through and our faves take Hiram down. Bring on next week.
