Sarah Paulson previously hinted that she may have a guest role in AHS: 1984 but it looks like that has now been scrapped.
American Horror Story fans assemble. Sarah Paulson has officially announced that she won't be starring in AHS: 1984 at all.
It's no secret that Sarah Paulson is American Horror Story royalty. Ever since the series first aired in 2010, viewers have been obsessed with her characters and her scene-stealing talent. Over the course of nine seasons, Sarah has played eleven different roles. It's hard to imagine AHS without fame-hungry medium Billie Dean Howard, journalist supreme Lana Winters and the literal supreme Cordelia Goode. However, Sarah is now taking a break from AHS. The 44-year-old has confirmed that she won't appear in 1984.
Earlier this year, Sarah revealed that, while she wouldn't have a lead role in AHS: 1984, she might make an appearance. She even hinted that she would possibly have a surprise cameo this season in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Just last month (Sep 7), Sarah teased: “It’s a little bittersweet because I have a lot of friends who are still on the show. I think it’s a really cool idea for the show this year. And you never know, I may pop up. You never know. No promises though.”
Deadline previously reported that Sarah would definitely appear in 1984 briefly. This led fans to speculate that Sarah would probably star in the 100th episode this week (Oct 23). However, now Sarah has let us know that she won't be making any guest appearances or cameos in 1984 at all.
Sarah recently took part in a panel at the New York Film Festival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah "confirmed during the panel that she will not be making any appearances on the currently airing ninth season of the horror franchise AHS: 1984".
1984 marks the first season of AHS without Sarah, as well as fellow mainstay Evan Peters. The Golden Globe-winning actress is currently working on the new series of American Crime Story and the upcoming Ryan Murphy drama Nurse Ratched for Netflix.

As it stands, it's unclear if Sarah will just skip this season of AHS out or if she's taking an extended break from the franchise.
