When does the new season of American Horror Story start? AHS: 1984 will premiere on Wednesday September 18th on FX.
It's getting closer... the new season of American Horror Story is so close we can almost taste it - and now, we've got an exact date of when it will return to our screens.
After a whopper of a Murder House/Coven crossover season, AHS will return in 2019 with an '80s slasher themed season, titled American Horror Story: 1984. A creepy teaser trailer has already been released but details about the season and the theme are thin on the ground (as expected with AHS, to be honest...)
It's now been revealed that American Horror Story: 1984 will premiere on Wednesday September 18th on FX. It will remain in its 10pm time slot.
So far, only two cast members have been officially confirmed for the new season. Emma Roberts will be returning for her fifth season (after Coven, Freak Show, Cult and Apocalypse) and Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy will be making his acting debut as her boyfriend.
Sarah Paulson, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd and Cody Fern have all spoken about the new season, but none of them are confirmed confirmed to be joining the cast just yet.
Evan Peters has said that he will not be part of this season. He said he will be "sitting this one out" following comments he made in an interview with GQ where he said that was looking to take a break.
Billy Eichner has also ruled himself out of this season, replying to a fan on Twitter that he "can't do AHS this year."
No other names have been mentioned just yet, but with filming expected to start very soon, we'll likely get more info. A few weeks ago, Gus Kenworthy shared a picture of what looked like a script for 1984 on Instagram stories.

As always with Ryan Murphy, he's keeping the details about the film close to his chest but it sounds like 1984 will be much like the teaser we've already seen. It'll be an '80s slasher-type season.
According to executive producer Tim Minnear, the season will "be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat.” (H/T The Wrap)
