Spotify introduces new Stories feature
Just what we need – more Stories to watch…
Spotify has become the latest platform to add a Stories feature to some of its playlists and, um, who actually asked for this?!
The new feature is available on mobile devices and when you search for certain featured playlists, you'll get an option to "Tap To See The Story". For example, if you head to Stories on Spotify's Christmas Hits playlist, a number of artists like Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Clarkson will appear.

The singers then share their personal Christmas stories and open up about the process of making a hit song. Other playlists that have this are Megan Thee Stallion's debut album Good News and Tear Drop (an emo rap playlist).
Basically, it's Snapchat and Instagram all rolled into one now. At the moment, the feature is only available on Spotify playlists so whether you'll be able to add them to your own Stories in future is unknown.

The feature is just in the testing stage at the moment so it might not be available to you right now. There's no word on when Spotify might roll out the feature for all users.
In a statement to Engadget, a Spotify spokesperson said: "At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time."
As to be expected, the news of a new Stories feature is not exactly going down well. One user wrote: "Now I KNOW these aren’t Stories I’m seeing on Spotify... end the simulation PLS." And another added: "Who asked for this? Spotify is a music app not a social media. Stories are cool don't get me wrong but do we really need to add it to everything?! This just seems unnecessary."
