Normani also opened up about the racist abuse she experienced from Camila Cabello fans while she was in Fifth Harmony.
Normani has addressed Camila Cabello's racist Tumblr posts and the racism she faced in Fifth Harmony in a new interview.
Last year (Dec 18), Camila Cabello came under fire after a Twitter thread went viral which appeared to show racist posts and memes from her old Tumblr account. Camila then took to Instagram Stories to apologise. She wrote: "When I was younger, I used language that I'm deeply ashamed of and will regret forever. I can't say enough how deeply sorry and ashamed I feel."

Now Normani has spoken up about Camila's old posts and how she felt when she became the target of racist bullying in 2016 after she called Camila "quirky" in an interview. Fans of Camila called Normani racial slurs, sent her death threats and even photoshopped images of her being lynched. The racist abuse was so bad that Normani quit Twitter at the time.
Talking with Rolling Stone about the racist abuse she experienced, Normani said: "I face senseless attacks daily, as does the rest of my community. This represents a day in the life for us. Direct and subliminal hatred has been geared towards me for many years solely because of the color of my skin. It would be dishonest if I said this particular scenario didn’t hurt me."
Normani then spoke about how Fifth Harmony, and Camila specifically, responded to the abuse she faced. She said: "It was devastating that this came from a place that was supposed to be a safe haven and a sisterhood, because I knew that if the tables were turned I would defend each of them in a single heartbeat."
Normani then continued: "It took days for her to acknowledge what I was dealing with online and then years for her to take responsibility for the offensive tweets that recently resurfaced. Whether or not it was her intention, this made me feel like I was second to the relationship that she had with her fans."
Normani added: "I don’t want to say that this situation leaves me hopeless because I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity for personal growth. I really hope that an important lesson was learned in this. I hope there is genuine understanding about why this was absolutely unacceptable."
As it stands, Camila hasn't addressed Normani's comments. We shall update you if she does.
